Rogers Cemetery

Rogers Cemetery,
The Rogers Cemetery, one of the oldest in Morgan County, is located one mile west of Waverly and 1/2 mile south of Route 104. The land was set aside for a cemetery by John Cook Caldwell, in honor of his wife's parents, Reverend and Mrs. William Rogers. The cemetery measures approximately 320 by 200 feet, with over 400 burials, over 100 of whom are Morgan County pioneers. Veterans of the Revolutionary War, the Blackhawk War, the Mexican War, and the Civil War are buried in Rogers Cemetery. Extensive renovation efforts have been made since 1963, and the cemetery is now incorporated as a foundation. An additional 26 acres of land were given to the foundation by the late Ms. Mattie Deatherage. For more information, contact Mrs. Shirley Aleguas at saleguas@speednet.com .
